Ranthambore National Park mourned the loss of a tigress named T-60, also known as Junior Indu, in early February 2024.This unfortunate event cast a shadow on the wildlife community, as T-60 was a beloved resident of the park.

The cause of death was attributed to complications during childbirth. Veterinarians believe the cub became lodged in the birth canal, causing immense distress for both mother and cub. This heartbreaking situation highlights the dangers faced by wild animals, even in protected areas.

A Descendant of Legacy

T-60 was the offspring of the tigress T-31, fondly called Indu by forest officials and wildlife enthusiasts. Following in her mother’s footsteps, T-60 became a vital part of Ranthambore’s ecosystem.

Double Tragedy Strikes Ranthambore

The loss of T-60 coincided with another blow to Ranthambore’s tigress population. T-99, also known as Aishwarya, suffered a stillbirth just a day before T-60’s passing. This double tragedy underscored the fragility of life in the wild.

A Call for Continued Conservation Efforts

T-60’s death serves as a stark reminder of the importance of wildlife conservation. Continued efforts are needed to ensure the well-being of tigers and their habitat in Ranthambore National Park. This includes anti-poaching measures, habitat protection, and veterinary care.

The tigress’s demise has left a void in Ranthambore. However, her memory lives on, reminding us of the beauty and resilience of these magnificent creatures.
